According to leading petrochemical industry executives in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), that region of the world will experience growth of polymer consumption through 2010 at approximately twice the rate experienced by Western Europe. The annual growth rate for polymers in CEE is predicted to be about 5 to 8 percent. Companies such as Slovnaft, Vegyi Kombinat (TVK), the Basell Orlen Polyolefins (BOP) joint venture and Danish-headquartered Borealis are constructing new plants or expanding production of polymers such as Polypropylene and High density polyethylene (HDPE).
