Health, occupational safety, and environmental protection are incorporated in all business processes, development programmes, strategies and criteria for planning and decision making.
As our two petrochemical companies are located in the vicinity of the city of Zagreb and on Krk Island in the Adriatic Sea, their operation and development have required, and still require, that proper care should be taken of and activities should be carried out for the protection and conservation of the environment. This is also important because recently adopted laws and regulations on environmental protection impose even more stringent requirements.
For this purpose, certain emissions into air, soil and water are tested daily by internal services- laboratories. In addition, Croatian National Institute of Public Health and the Primorsko-goranska County Institute of Public Health carry out periodical tests of emission samples. The findings of the tests performed by these institutes over a lengthy period show that the air in the locations of both petrochemical complexes is of 1st quality category, while the parameters monitored in the sea and lakes in Krk Island and emissions into water at the Zagreb site at Žitnjak are within allowed limit values.
In addition, industrial waste has been competently managed and its management documented at both production sites.
All the above activities and their results are surveyed by competent inspection bodies.
DINA-Petrokemija has introduced integrated management systems for production of plastics and chemicals according to the requirements of ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001: 2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards. The systems have been certified by authorized independent certification organizations.
In order to permanently ensure and improve safety and occupational safety and health at both production sites, employees are regularly given training and retraining in occupational safety and health, fire prevention and environmental protection.
